Cargotec receives its first Turkish order for Kalmar ship-to-shore cranes
07/06/2010
CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 7 JUNE 2010 AT 2 P.M. (EEST)
Cargotec has received its first order from Turkey for two Kalmar ship-to-shore cranes. The highly customised cranes featuring performance enhancing specifications will be delivered to Evyap Port, operating near the country's two major industrialized provinces of Istanbul and Kocaeli, in the second quarter of 2011.
Evyap Port is investing in Cargotec's reliable and eco-friendly crane technology to support the expansion of its container terminal operations. The units will feature optimised hoisting speeds that deliver accuracy and efficiency with very little energy consumption. The cranes will operate without hydraulics requiring less time for maintenance, lowering operating costs and eliminating the potential for oil leakages.
"By providing some of the industry's most productive and environmentally friendly ship-to-shore cranes, we aim to attract customers in both mature and new markets. Our reliable technology and improved competitiveness has resulted in a solution suitable for customers located around the world," says Jorma Tirkkonen, Senior Vice President of Cargotec's Port Cranes.
Evyap Port operates with several pieces of Kalmar equipment, including 10 E-One rubber-tyred gantry cranes. With this latest order, the customer has opted for additional Kalmar equipment, including one reachstacker, two empty container handlers and one forklift.
Evyap Port has a terminal capacity of 615,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit).
