MacGREGOR cranes cater for heavy lift loadsEight new general cargo ships, being built in China, will feature MacGREGOR heavy lift cranes designed for efficient container handlingMacGREGOR crane division has been awarded a contract worth in excess of US$30 million to deliver heavy lift cargo cranes to eight ships being built at Shandong Huanghai Shipbuilding in China. The 28,000 dwt general cargo ships, ordered by COSCO Guangshou branch, will each be equipped with two GLH 20020/17523/16025/12030/8033-2 cranes and one GL4530/4035-2 unit. The cranes will have MacGREGOR standard heavy lift design comprising double control systems (CC2000) for redundancy, as well as an auxiliary hoist for efficient handling of containers. Deliveries are planned to start in October 2009 and will continue until late 2010. They will be manufactured by MacGREGOR long-term manufacturing partner Nanjing L¼zhou Machine Works in China. L¼zhou has been a MacGREGOR manufacturing partner since 1987 and has extensive experience with the full MacGREGOR range of cargo cranes.
