MacGREGOR continues to build up orders from Chinese yards for feeder ship cranes

Series expansion calls for MacGREGOR hatch covers

An additional twelve 17,300 dwt multipurpose cargo ships will be fitted with MacGREGOR hatch covers as Wagenborg has expanded its newbuild programme at the Hudong Shipyard in ChinaThe MacGREGOR Group part of the Cargotec Corporation has won hatch cover orders for a further twelve 17,300 dwt multipurpose cargo ships being built by the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group in China for Wagenborg Shipping. The contract is worth around u201a5 million and the vessels are due for delivery between 2008 and 2011.

The 962 TEU capacity carriers are part of a 24-ship series being built for two owners Wagenborg and Beluga at the yard. A series of six 17,300 dwt multipurpose cargo ships being built at the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard for Wagenborg Shipping and Beluga Shipping were ordered last year and were a repeat order of vessels previously ordered by Wagenborg.

MacGREGOR scope of delivery for folding weatherdeck and tweendeck hatch covers comprises design and key components. The company is also supplying lashing equipment fixed equipment on deck and stanchions, on hatch covers and in cargo holds.

Weatherdeck hatch covers are the high-stowing folding type, operated by external hydraulic cylinders and bell crank arms, while tweendeck covers are lift-away panels. The two-hatch ship uses four panels to close No 1 hatch, which has a clear opening of 35.9m by 17.75m, while No 2 has two forward panels and four aft to close an opening that is 52.2m long and 17.75m wide. Container stack loads are 50 tonnes for TEU and 60 tonnes for FEU.
