Stock Exchange Release, May 2, 2006 at 11.00 a.m. Finnish time
Kalmar, the business area providing container handling solutions within Cargotec, has received an order for 12 E-One RTGs (rubber-tyred gantry cranes) from South African Port Operations (SAPO). The RTGs will be delivered to the port of Durban in South Africa. The deliveries of the first six RTGs will take place in spring 2007 and the second six in autumn 2007.
E-one is known in the market as an environmentally friendly and productive RTG. It's an all-electric crane without hydraulics. Since its launch in the beginning of 2005 terminal operators around the globe have ordered more than 100 E-Ones.
This first ever order for Kalmar RTGs by SAPO, a subsidiary of Transnet Limited, extends the close cooperation it has with Kalmar. Kalmar has supplied over 130 straddle carriers to SAPO in the past five years.
Unit prices for RTGs vary between EUR 1-1.5 million.
